Privacy Notice – Data Protection Act 1998
Norfolk County Council is the Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act and Children’s Centres are the Data Processors. We collect information from you, and may receive information about you from other Children’s Centres or partner agencies. This information includes your contact details and if you have chosen to share with us other information such as ethnic group and employment status.
We hold this personal data and use it to:
- Keep you informed of activities that may be relevant to you.
- Help plan our activities and tailor them to the needs of the local community.
- Monitor the number of families using our services.
- Help the Local Authority assess how well the centre as a whole is doing.
In order to provide services for you (and if you have given us consent to do so) we may need to share information about you with named partners who work closely with us to support families with young children. We will seek your consent in advance should we need to speak to any other professionals or organisations.
We will not give information about you to any professionals or organisations not involved with your family without your consent unless the law and our rules permit it. If any professional has child safeguarding concerns they will follow the Local Safeguarding Childrens Board protocols and procedures, see http://www.nscb.norfolk.gov.uk for more details.
We can only register those who have completed and agreed to all the information on the registration form. If your partner or other significant adult has not already done so and would also like to register with the Children’s Centre they can download a Registration form at www.norfolk.gov.uk/childrenscentres and return it to the Children’s Centre.
If you want to see a copy of the information we hold and share about you then please contact the Children’s Centre. Your information will be held in line with Norfolk County Council’s record retention schedule. This is also available at www.norfolk.gov.uk/childrenscentres If you wish to lodge a complaint please contact the Children’s Centre in the first instance.
